Art
Club-
The purpose of the Art Club is to provide students with the opportunity
to discuss and create aspects of art that are not covered in
class. Activities include silk screening T-shirts for
organization fund raisers and
sponsoring an art show in the spring. Prospective members must
be enrolled in an art class. Sponsor:

Band - Some
knowledge of music is
necessary. In all but a few cases, students must provide their
own equipment. Sponsor:

Cercis Staff - The
members of the Cercis staff have the responsibility of composing and
publishing the school annual. A variety of talent is required for
this task and students who have a genuine interest may join the
staff.

Chorus - Any student interested in singing may
join the Chorus. Sponsor:

Culinary Arts - Any student
who has been or is enrolled in a foods class is eligible to participate
in this club which will enable them to participate in food experiences
beyond the classroom. Sponsor:

Future Business Leaders of America - This is a
national
organization
that promotes business leadership, entrepreneurship, and the free
enterprise system and provides opportunities for secondary students
in business education to develop vocational and career competencies and
to promote civic and personal responsibilities. A member must
have
taken a business class or be enrolled in a business class. Sponsors: Mrs. Deterding and Mrs.
Sternberg
Fellowship of Christian Athletes* - The
Fellowship of Christian
Athletes is a terrific opportunity for students to realize and
understand the connection between God and athletics. Our mission
is to promote Christian values, leadership, and sportsmanship in the
school and community. FCA members gain important experience in
leadership and volunteerism through service projects, volunteer work,
club meetings (huddles), and our annual fundraiser. There are
membership requirements for FCA. Sponsors:

Future Farmers of America. - The Red Bud Chapter FFA is an
educational and recreational organization for students involved and/or
interested in promoting the agricultural industry. Many
agricultural
related contests and field trips are conducted throughout the
year. Membership is open to any student interested in
agriculture.
You must be enrolled in an ag class to be a member of the FFA. Sponsor: Mr. Wiegand
Libary Club - Club members
help shelve books, try out new computer programs, laminate documents
and help students find books. Students who want to be in the
Library Club can work before school and during their study hall. Sponsor: Mrs. McCutcheon
Math Team - The Math Team competes in several
different contests each year culminating with the ICTM State Math
contest. The Red Bud Math Team has enjoyed great success at both
the local and state levels. Sponsor:
Mrs. Brundage, Mr. Flowers, and Ms. Rudy
Model United Nations - Model United Nations
is an authentic simulation of the U.N. General Assembly and other
multilateral bodies. Model U.N. promotes student and teacher
interest in international relations and related subjects, increases the
capacity for students to engage in problem solving, teaches aspects of
conflict resolution, research skills, and communication skills, and
creates the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. Sponsor: Mr. Deist
National Honor Society - An organization
for juniors and seniors that encourages academic achievement, service
and leadership. The following are the minimum requirements
for membership: a 3.25 GPA, membership in two school
organizations, involvement in three service projects, and positive
votes from 80%
of the faculty (based on character). Sponsor: Mrs. Nobbe
Science Club -This club is open to all high
school students with 2 years of science or current enrollment in a
science class. The Science Club's primary goal is to find practical
applications to scientific principles in monthly meetings and/or field
trips. Membership dues are required. Sponsor: Mr. Magee
SkillsUSA VICA - The purpose of the Vocational
Industrial Club of America is to promote fellowship and leadership
in the world of work. Also, VICA encourages members, both boys
and girls, to learn trade skills and to compete with others at local
and state levels. Sponsors:
Mrs. Carnahan and Mrs. Franklin
Spanish Club - Offered to
all
students enrolled in Spanish or who have completed two years of
Spanish. Activities are centered around meeting other students
who like foreign languages and cultures. The club sponsors a
Guatemalan girl, competes in Spanish, and has
"Fiestas." Sponsor: Mrs.
Zeiger
Student Council - The members are elected by
their classmates. Throughout the school year the Student Council
sponsors dances and activities for the student body. They also
perform necessary services around the school. Sponsor: Mr. Magee
Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering -
An organization of interested
students who are involved in W.Y.S.E. and/or Design. W.Y.S.E.
is the academic testing in specific subjects and competing in the
annual design competition. There are no requirements for
admission
except an interest in working with fellow students and for the
school. Sponsors: Mrs.
Brundage, Mr. Magee, Mr. Meyer, Ms. Rudy, and Mrs. Seivers
