High School contact Mr. Deist via email at bdeist@redbud.k12.il.us or
phone at 282-3826 x123.
Costs:
Students enrolled for college credit are required to pay $55.00 tuition
per credit hour, $165.00 per class. Students who qualify for the
Free and Reduced Lunch Program may apply for a tuition
deduction. Students are not required to
pay for textbooks or any additional fees. This payment is made
directly to St. Louis University within the first two months of the
semester. This cost is far less than comparable tuition at SLU or
other area colleges and universities. Students may enroll in a
college credit class without paying the tuition. In this case,
students would earn high school credit only.

lens of the United States’ role in the world. The actions taken
by the United States in the world community have never played a more
vital role. The understanding, or lack thereof, of the foreign
policy process will determine whether or not we live in a world of
peace and prosperity; or through a series of missteps, a world of
unraveling institutions, rising and unstable powers, and growing waves
of regional strife. This course will examine the underlying
theory behind U.S. Foreign Policy, the changing role of the United
States, and the contemporary challenges of the post Cold War era.
This is a college level course and the workload will be similar to that
of a college course. This semester course may be taken for 3
hours of transferable college credit through St. Louis University with
the payment of $165.00 tuition. With tuition payment, students
earn both high school and college credit. Tuition payment is not

governmental agencies. Topics covered will include the
constitutions of the United States, Illinois, and Missouri, federalism,
interest groups, political parties, equal rights, public opinion,
foreign policy, and other topics. Special attention will be
focused on the theories of power, the foundations of our political
system, and our constitutional rights as citizens of the United
States. Current events in the political scene will be an integral
part of the course. This course meets the government requirement
and can be taken instead of American Government. This is a
college level course and the workload will be similar to that of a

Transferability:
The following results represent the responses
the1818 ACC Program Office at St. Louis University received from former
1818 ACC students regarding the transferability of 1818 ACC credit
hours to other colleges or universities since the 2004-2005 academic
year. The 1818 Advanced College Credit Program assumes no
responsibility for validating the accuracy of the responses. The list
merely reports responses received from students surveyed through Spring
2006.
Students should note that of the institutions reported as accepting
1818 ACC course work, some accepted the courses as electives only. Some
required copies of the course syllabus prior to approval of the course
for credit. Some accepted courses in one academic area but not
another.
Students are urged to contact the institution of interest to inquire
directly regarding institutional policy for accepting transfer credit
from dual credit or concurrent enrollment courses such as 1818 Advanced
College Credit.
